TPS  GRANT  RESOURCES

This grant from the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) Program enabled the Virginia Social Studies Leaders Consortium to develop a collection of inquiry-based lesson plans to support the implementation of Virginia’s 2023 History and Social Science Standards. In this second phase of the VSSLC Curriculum Guide initiative, social studies leaders from across the Commonwealth collaborated to design model inquiries using primary sources from the Library. These teacher-facing lessons model strong inquiry-based instruction while providing freely accessible resources that divisions across Virginia, especially those with limited curriculum development capacity, can use to strengthen classroom learning. The inquiries reflect the collaborative work of Virginia social studies leaders committed to expanding access to high-quality, source-based instruction statewide, and all inquiries developed through the TPS grant are linked below.
